Teaching

In academic teaching, we attempt, together with the research group Transnational Governance, to introduce our students to the most important theoretical developments and the most fascinating policy fields of International Relations. Foci of our courses are a lecture, taking place every summer term, on the Introduction to International Politics with several accompanying seminars (=IB I) for BA students. Furthermore, we offer advanced seminars on international environmental politics, International Political Economy, foreign policy and security studies as well as on international organizations (= IB II). For MA students, every winter term a lecture on Global Governance is offered. Various seminars pick up topics such as global climate and development politics. For MA students in particular, the research group offers courses in English regularly.

BA and MA theses will be supervised on all topics of International Relations. We coordinate closely with our colleagues from the other research groups. If you are interested in writing a BA or MA thesis at our research group, please contact us early on in our office hours. During the preparation of the thesis, we expect a short exposé from you in which you formulate your main research question. If you have any questions concerning your exposé, please contact us via email or come to our office hours. Please note that we will not agree to any registration before we have accepted your exposé.

We are happy to provide you with letters of reference etc. Please notify us early on and send us the following information:

Where does the letter need to be send to and until what date? Ideally, you name a direct contact person with postal and e-mail address. The letter of reference will be handed to you in person only in exceptional cases and only in a sealed envelope.
What are you applying for? If you are applying for project funding etc., you should provide us with as much information as possible about the project in order for us to be able to assess it.
