Victor Milla

Victor Milla is a PhD researcher for the Latin American Chair of Forest Policy and Economics at CATIE in Costa Rica, where he also obtained his Magister degree in Tropical Forest Management and Conservation. He has a vast experience in the field of forest governance, forest business models, geographic information systems, remote sensing and forest inventories. He has been technical adviser, researcher and coordinator of various national and international programs to develop mechanisms of adaptation and mitigation to climate change in Central America. He is part of the working group of the CCAD for the development and implementation of the Regional Strategic Program for the Management of Forest Ecosystems (PERFOR), as well as strategies for improving environmental and social management of productive landscapes by the government of Costa Rica. He has been employee and consultant to renowned institutions worldwide as IUCN, CATIE, World Bank, WWF and OTS.

Before joining CATIE, Víctor worked for IUCN Regional Office for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. He was the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for the Forest Governance and Economics Unit and the Regional Project Manager for the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) project in Mesoamerica, where he was in charge of developing and implementing programmatic country plans for Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panamá and Honduras to advance on topics such as forest governance, forest climate and markets, and forestry verification systems.

In GreeTS Víctor is responsible for conducting research on the land use sector in Costa Rica.
