'Developing und strengthening the Public Health Service'

The recent pandemic fuelled an intense public debate about the staff shortage in public health offices. In 2019, Nathalie Behnke and Matthias Zimmermann conducted an investigation on the equipment and tasks of the public health service in the 22 health offices in Thuringia on behalf of the Thuringian Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Health, Women and Family (TMASGFF).

The results of the study show a serious shortage of personnel and a great need for action in the areas of personnel recruitment and development, but also administrative organization and review of the scope of tasks.
