Working Group ‚Sustainability‘

In the Working Group on Sustainability at the Institute of Political Science at TU Darmstadt, employees and students deal with topics of (ecological) sustainability. The focus is on the question: How can we as an institute reduce our environmental consumption and establish new routines that ideally also inspire others? We are convinced that the design of our own institution and our own working environment are decisive starting points for a transformation towards sustainability.

For this reason, we initially drew up a 'Commitment to Strengthen Ecological Sustainability at the Institute of Political Science', which was adopted by a large majority of the Institute's Directorate.

We also deal with sustainability in research and teaching and organize public events on relevant topics:

Courses related to sustainability at TU Darmstadt

2019: Ways out of the climate crisis. Panel discussions with actors from politics and society

2020: Green economic growth or system change? How do we tackle the climate crisis?

2021: Farmers, Food and Future. Socio-ecological transformation processes in the agricultural and food system

In the future, we want to develop and implement ideas for structural changes for sustainable university life. For 2022, we are planning an exchange on energy and food issues in the context of the institute. To this end, we are networking with various groups and institutions in the field of sustainability, such as the Office for Sustainability, h_da and the Hochschulgruppe Nachhaltigkeit.
