Ira Wagman from Carleton University to visit the institute

In the week of 24 to 28 October, Prof. Ira Wagman (Carleton University) will visit the institute in the framework of the EU-Canada exchange programme.

Ira Wagman is an Associate Professor of Communication and Media Studies in the School of Journalism and Communication at Carleton University, in Ottawa, Canada. At Carleton he is also a Research Associate at the Max Zelikovitz Centre for Jewish Studies, the Carleton Centre for Public History, and the Centre for European Studies. During his career Ira has held several visiting fellowships in Germany, Italy, Israel, the Netherlands, and the United States, where he held a Fulbright Visiting Chair position at the University of Southern California. His research, teaching, and writing are focused in the areas of the history of communication technologies (especially television); the study of media industries and cultural policy; media ethics, and an appreciation of the relationship between media and time. He is currently engaged in several research projects, including a study of the relationship between media technologies and social protocols associated with the communication of apology, regret, and individual and social rehabilitation.
