Internationale Fokusgruppen im Ausschuss der Regionen in Brüssel

2022/10/26 by

On 21 October 2022, citizens from nine EU countries gathered at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels to participate in focus group discussions of the HEUREC project.

This project is sponsored by the BMBF and investigates how Europeans understand fairness, reciprocity and cohesion in the EU. Three focus groups with eight or nine participants each discussed issues of solidarity in Europe, such as mutual aid in case of natural disasters, economic crises and the fight against unemployment. Project members Björn Egner, Inga Gaižauskaitė and Jens Steffek were the moderators of the discussions that took place in a regular conference room of the Committee and were translated into the nine languages of the participants. Focus groups are a social-scientific research method that allows us to analyze the arguments and narratives used to explain and justify opinions.
