Dr. Jens Marquardt is a Research Associate in the Research Group “International Relations,” led by Prof. Dr. Markus Lederer.
As an Athene Young Investigator, Dr. habil. Jens Marquardt leads a junior research group at the Chair of International Relations focusing on the politicization of environmental and climate action. His research primarily examines conflicts surrounding socio-ecological transformation and the tensions between sustainability and democracy. In addition to conventional societal disputes over energy, environmental, and climate measures, his work also addresses the contested nature of political futures.
Following appointments at Freie Universität Berlin and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Jens Marquardt conducted research at Harvard University and Stockholm University. He maintains a strong international research network with partners and universities, particularly in the Global South.
