Dr. Jens Marquardt is a Research Associate in the Research Group “International Relations,” led by Prof. Dr. Markus Lederer.
As an Athene Young Investigator, Dr. Marquardt leads a junior research group focused on the politicization of environmental issues and climate change. His main area of investigation revolves around different forms of politicization in democratic systems. This includes traditional political conflicts, social disputes, and the politicization of the future.
Having previously worked at Freie Universität Berlin, Harvard University, and the University of Stockholm, Dr. Marquardt is currently involved in a joint research project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) at TU Darmstadt. The project focuses on the challenge of institutionalizing climate mitigation measures in the Global South.
