Christian Stecker, Michèle Knodt and Christina-Marie Juen successfully acquired funding for the Hessen Monitor, a new research initiative

04.06.2025

A major success for TU Darmstadt – advancing democracy research in Hesse!

The Hessen-Monitor is coming – and Technische Universität Darmstadt is right at the heart of it!

Together with fantastic colleagues from 5 universities across Hesse, we’re building a new, long-term research instrument to better understand political attitudes, societal divides, and the resilience of democracy in our region. I’m especially proud that the project has just been selected for funding by the Hessisches Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Forschung, Kunst und Kultur (Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Arts and Culture) – a strong commitment to evidence-based policymaking and democratic engagement.

Even more exciting: I get to work as Darmstadt team alongside Christian Stecker and Christina-Marie Juen at the Department of Political Science at TU Darmstadt.

We aim to provide solid data that can inform civic education, public discourse, and smart decisions – for a stronger democracy. Thanks to the teams from Marburg, Frankfurt, Gießen and Fulda – Isabelle Borucki, Sigrid Roßteutscher, Simone Abendschön and Claudia Wiesner.
