Visit of UMass Boston Delegation at DiReX
2025/11/04
Today, I had the pleasure of presenting the Application and Transfer Digital Resilience Xchange (DiReX), which brings the research results of LOEWE emergenCITY Technische Universität Darmstadt into real-world application—to a distinguished delegation from the University of Massachusetts Boston visiting TU Darmstadt.
Together with Dr. Jana Freihöfer, who heads our International Office, and his team we welcomed Chancellor Marcelo M. Suarez-Orozco, Vice Provost for Strategic Research Initiatives Bala Sundaram, and Associate Vice Chancellor Michael C. Metzger. I shared insights into emergenCITY’s research and DiReX’s mission to translate digital resilience into practice.
The delegation emphasized the importance of integrating societal perspectives into technological innovation. We also explored potential areas for collaboration, particularly in climate adaptation. There are also potential areas of overlap with regard to climate adaptation. Cooperation between DiReX and the American university is currently under discussion.
Personally, it was a wonderful opportunity to welcome the UMass Boston delegation and to reminisce about my time there as a visiting professor. Looking forward to continuing the exchange with our colleagues in Boston!
