Institut für Politikwissenschaft
The chair combines several functions. First, it is home to research projects under the direction of apl. Prof. Björn Egner, most of which can be assigned to local politics research and/or policy field analysis. The chair is also responsible for teaching methods in political science. In addition, the chair is responsible for student counselling as well as the coordination and long-term development planning of the political science degree programmes at TU Darmstadt.
The courses offered at the chair deal with basic methodological topics within the social sciences. Based on this, students are taught basic knowledge about the application of qualitative and quantitative methods. In addition to methodological knowledge, students are also taught critical methodological awareness in the courses. The aim is to enable students to understand methodologically advanced reading. Furthermore, students should be enabled to develop their own research designs and implement them independently in a methodologically reflective manner.
