Research

Research in this research group include the German system of government and Western democratic states. Particular focus is placed on the transformation of democratic systems of government in the process of internationalisation, European integration and domestic regionalisation. Projects focus on the effects of these processes on the effectiveness of governance, on democratic legitimacy and on institutional stability. Emphasis is put on multilevel governance and comparative federalism research
