Dr. Leonie Holthaus arbeitet als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Arbeitsbereich „Transnationales Regieren“. Ihre Forschung beschäftigt sich mit der Geschichte und den Theorien der Internationalen Beziehungen, internationalen Organisationen und Zivilgesellschaft und demokratischen Entwicklungen, speziell in der Region Nahost- und Nordafrika und den Golfmonarchien.
Ihre gegenwärtige Forschung untersucht Demokratieförderung und Demokratieförderungsexpertise aus soziologischer und praxistheoretischer Perspektive. In diesem Kontext kooperiert sie u.a. Prof. Dr. Michael Christensen (Carleton University) und Mitgliedern des Netzwerks Externe Demokratisierungspolitik (EDP). Jüngste Forschungsinteressen gelten Klimaaktivismus und Emotionen.
Zu Leonies Holthaus internationalen Kooperationspartnern gehören u.a. Prof. Dr. Michael Christensen (Carleton University). Sie ist zudem Mitglied des Netzwerks Externe Demokratisierungspolitik https://www.external-democracy-promotion.eu/de/.
